MUSICA POP concert at The Studio in Newport has been given new meaning following the sudden death of Michael Jackson.
The King and Queen of Pop show featuring Michael Jackson impersonator Navi and Debbie Nunn as Madonna was organised by Clare Jilani, of CJshows, two months ago.
She said the event would still go ahead on Sunday, August 16 but would now be a celebration of Jackson’s life.
Clare has been one of Michael Jackson’s biggest fans since she was a teenager and has been devastated by his death.
"No other artist will ever touch him, he was the ultimate showman," she said.
"He never turned up on stage in jeans and T-shirt, he turned out in sequins and sparkled from head to toe and danced to the last minute of his shows."
Clare added: "Navi is the most dedicated Michael Jackson performer and fan I have met, I have known him for three years.
"He has the stage presence of Michael Jackson and looks so much like him. He has continued performing through this sad time and fans are pleased he is keeping Michael’s memory alive.
"It will be nice for Island fans to come together, too, as we can feel a bit isolated because the fan clubs are mainly based in London."
CJshows will be making a donation to the Make a Wish Foundation, a charity often spoke about by Jackson in interviews and to which he gave a lot of support.
Debbie Nunn will also be performing at the show.
