Wight Brass
MUSICAFTER only 14 hours of rehearsals, new band Wight Brass did well at a regional competition.
Made up of groups across the Island, the band just fell short of qualifying for the national finals, coming sixth out of 20 bands from across the west of England.
The adjudicator, Stan Lippet, an ex-Grimethorpe Colliery Band member, congratulated Wight Brass on being "a fine band" and praised the direction of Alan Ingram. They were just pipped to fifth place by Shanklin Town Brass Band, attending for their ninth year.
Wight Brass is planning a fundraising concert in April and will represent the Island at the Wessex Brass Band Association Contest in November.
