MUSIC THE next West Wight Arts recital, at Freshwater Memorial Hall, will feature the brilliant young Romanian pianist Alexandra Dariescu.
Now in her mid-20s, Alexandra was a child prodigy, having made her debut as a soloist with the Kisinev Symphony Orchestra at the age of nine.
Since then she has had several international competition successes and is now much in demand as a piano soloist.
For her Freshwater recital, next Saturday, March 13, Alexandra has chosen an enticing programme covering a wide range of repertoire.
Starting with a Bach Partita, she will also be playing popular works by Beethoven and Chopin before a virtuoso French conclusion — Ravel’s Ondine and Debussy’s L’isle Joyeuse.
Tickets are available from Mackenzie Arthur from 10am each weekday.
Advance booking is advisable.
A free coach to Freshwater Memorial Hall will leave Somerfield in Shanklin at 6pm.
Details of stopping points along the South Wight route are available from Liz Wason on 01983 752596.
