MUSIC A FOLK band is returning to the Island next month for another shindig.

Following their previous sell-out gig, The Crew will return with a mixture of folk songs, sea shanties and morris tunes to get toes tapping.

Proceeds from the event, Shindig 2, will go towards funding the first folk dance rally on the Island at Smallbrook Stadium in June.

The Crew play traditional instruments, including the pennywhistle, accordion, mandolin, ukulele and bodhran, and they have previously appeared at the Old Gaffers’ Festival and the avant garde Underground restaurant at the Bestival.

The shindig will take place at Wootton Community Centre on Saturday, March 9, from 7.30pm to 10.30pm.

Tickets are available from Strings of Ryde, Monkton Street, Ryde, or guitarist Barry Seward on 01983 883967.
