Chart-toppers from Motown come to Shanklin Theatre.
MUSIC THE Magic of Motown hits Shanklin Theatre in October, as the UK’s busiest touring production, featuring classics from the golden era of music from America’s 'motor city’, Detroit, comes to town.
The show from the United States is part of the UK Magic of Motown tour and celebrates 50 years of music from the Motown hit factory .
The non-stop spectacular features 36 chart-toppers from The Supremes, The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Jackson Five, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Martha Reeves, Lionel Richie and more.
It has an all-star cast and a talented band that faithfully reproduces Motown’s original Detroit sound. There are 16 sparkling costume changes and tightly choreographed dance routines, which resulted in the show garnering glowing reviews last year.
Producer Michael Taylor said: "This year is a very special one as far as Motown is concerned. It marks 50 years of number one hits."
Male lead Andre Lejaune said the cast had spent the end of 2011 rehearsing an all new arena show for 2012 to celebrate this golden anniversary.
He said: "With so many new numbers added to our already hit-packed show, we needed to ensure the choreography was right on point.
"The show is called The Magic of Motown for a reason. It’s our job to ensure theatre-goers have a truly magical night to remember."
• The show takes place on Thursday, October 18, at 7.30pm. Tickets from Shanklin Theatre box office.
