CONCERT proceeds and cash raised through the sales of a CD, produced by Island bagpiper Dr Kieron Cooney and his band, the Wight Hot Pipes, have been presented to the Earl Mountbatten Hospice.

Dr Cooney, a St Helens GP, presented a cheque for £5,312.03 to senior hospice fundraiser Karen Eeles at The Roxy Cafe, Sandown.

The Wight Hot Pipes, which recorded the album The Road Ahead, also features vocalist Charlotte Barton Hoare, Julien Cooke, on keyboards, and Jamie Griffin, on guitar.

"We are so lucky to have such a wonderful hospice on the Island. It is quite unique," said Dr Cooney.
