Top club DJ at V-Dub weekend

Barry Ashworth.

MUSIC A GLOBALLY renowned clubland DJ has been added to the V-Dub Island bill.

Barry Ashworth, one of the first resident DJs at superclub Fabric in the 1990s, will play the VW themed festival, at Northwood County Showground, tomorrow night (Saturday).

The family-friendly festival kicked off yesterday and runs until Monday.

Ashworth, immortalised in the film It’s All Gone Pete Tong, has performed at Ibiza clubbing mecca, Manumission, and at Jade Jagger’s Jezebel Loft Parties across London.

One of the driving forces behind V-Dub’s Saturday night headliners, Dub Pistols, he will also perform a solo set.

A V-Dub spokesman said: "Barry Ashworth is nothing short of a legend in the DJ world and it gives us enormous pleasure to sneak him into the line-up at the last minute as a special treat for those who already have tickets and an extra incentive for those thinking about buying."

There will be more than 50 acts, including Radio One DJ and Bestival curator, Rob da Bank, plus a host of VW-themed entertainment.
