MUSIC A CONCERT by three talented young singers, recently graduated from Birmingham Conservatoire, at Brading Town Hall on Sunday afternoon did not disappoint.

Soprano Kirsten Barker, mezzo-soprano Phillipa Thomas and baritone Joseph Kennedy came together to perform a delightful mix of classical and operatic vocal music by both well-known and some lesser-known composers.

Pieces by Mozart, Bizet, Verdi and Rossini interspersed with stand-alone works by Finzi, Bridge, Hahn and Moore, and a very humorous rendition of Flanders and Swann’s The Gnu Song, showcased the talents of these fine singers, who were accompanied on the piano by Michele Brock.

This was the second of two concerts organised by Kirsten Barker over the weekend, the first being on Saturday evening at St Catherine’s Church,Ventnor, in aid of St Catherine’s School.
