FLIGHTS between the IW Airport at Sandown and London City airport have been suspended, two weeks after the service was launched.

The man behind the venture, Chris Williams, said he was mystified as to why his partner, British North Western, a Blackpool-based airline which holds the operators' certificate for the flights, had initially suspended the service for 24 hours on Thursday last week.

"They are saying we cannot fly until further notice," said Mr Williams, who was now seeking his own Air Operators' Certificate.
