A FORMER youth club building in Ryde looks set to be sold to a scout group by the Isle of Wight Council for £100,000.
The sale of St John's Annexe, a former Victorian School near the junction of High Street and St John's Road, is to be decided on in a delegated decision by George Brown.
The building was declared surplus to requirements by the Isle of Wight Council in January.
It was valued at £150,000 to £275,000, however the agents involved had said a realistic valuation for the building was challenging to provide because of the nature of the building, the market and the need for planning approval.
Marketing began in April for offers in excess of £200,000, however the council is now considering a £100,000 offer from 5th Ryde Scouts.
They originally offered £70,000, but increased the figure following negotiations. It was the highest offer received by the Isle of Wight Council.
According to a report issued by the Isle of Wight Council today (Thursday) the scouts have pledged to run the building for community use. The building will continue to be used by the judo club.
The decision cannot be taken before Friday, next week.
