£13,050 redundancy payout for council boss

Read the last paragraph. 'a permanent successor will be appointed.' This is the IOW council being untruthful. How can they claim to abolish the post and appoint a successor in the same press release?

The council's propaganda and press department cost us all in excess of £1 million annually. You might hope for that much they could speak without a forked tongue? Some hope.

This is no more than an illegal golden handshake. Benyon announced his retirement from the post and that cleared the way for the post to be deleted following his departure. So why the £13K - the salary, by the way, of a clerk in the Benefits Department. Perhaps this pay off should be investigated by the fraud squad?

Beynon had announced the retirement long before the post was abolished, so should not get any redundancy payment whatsoever. Then there is the abysmal record of failings under his Leadership.

Does seem like they are throwing away 13k if he was retiring anyway. Maybe he knows something and the money is to keep him quiet.

I wonder if mr Pugh etal would have agreed to the "redundancy" payment if the money came from their pockets rather than the rate payers!.If he was going to retire soon ,why not let him finish when he said he was going to, and put the cash towards the extra money for children's services.
After all,for £210,000 per year,what positive legacy is there to show!

I remain baffled by this. If, as the CP report says, the man was retiring, the fact that the role is redundant, is irrelevant so why does he get anything apart from his pension he was due when he retired. Just as baffling as the chap - Is this perhaps the same gent who went over to work a few half days for a mainland authority, so he could clearly be spared on the island and was then told by the same mainland authority they didn't want him any more. You really couldn't make this up could you. The fact remains that its exasperating to pay under pain of enforcement by distress or prison the Council taxes required to pay for these shenanigans. Utterly beyond barking in my opinion. But then, what do I know?

i cant get over the idea that this council thinks they can do this and no-one will notice, do they take us for a group of retards or something, the pay off stinks of corruption and the people that have implimented it need hauling before the courts to answer for it.

Don.t worry Mr Justice, Kevin Barclay-Jay will sort all of this out when he gets in and clears the deck He knows so much and can see just what is wrong every time something comes up about the Council comes up, so don't worry, he has all the answers and will get the Council turned round to his satisfaction in a very short while

Reading the daily tales of woe and failure - it looks to me like Beynon was sacked but they have done-a-deal to pretend they didn't sack him and simply abolished his job? Which of course they haven't.

IT SINKS MORE than a open sewage when someone announces they intend to leave then a frIend decide to make the job redundant then pay HIS FRIEND OFF. I bet a lot of other council employers would like to TREATED the same.

So, the truth is finally revealed, he cost us £210,000 a year. What exactly did we get for our money? An expert on education wasn't he? If so, why are we still failing?

To replace him with a Limited Company - Dave Burbage Ltd, will make us unique among local authorities I think?

Could we sue the Limited Company - if it fails to deliver too?
