A FIVE-YEAR-OLD boy has walked up a mountain to prove small people with autism can achieve big things.
Eli Wells was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder in October 2016, and started being home schooled earlier this year to meet his needs.
Last month, Eli, of Ryde, discovered a love of walking, something he said makes him ‘feel free’ and let him be himself.
The youngster reached the top of Pen-Y-Fan, in the Brecon Beacons, last Wednesday, with the help of his parents Rosie, 34, and Tim, 33, and three-year-old sister Milly.
Support worker Tim said: “Eli loved it and he wants to do it again, so we will try to do Snowdonia next year.
“In this day and age you don’t get a lot of family time, so every minute was fantastic.
“It took us two-and-a-half hours to get up there and around an hour to get down — it was a great experience.”
The family are raising money towards travel costs and equipment for Eli, who grows out of his walking boots every six weeks.
