AROUND 80 inspectors from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) are visiting the Isle of Wight NHS Trust this week to see what improvements have been made to get out of special measures.

Members of the Isle of Wight Council's scrutiny committee were told the news by the trust's chief executive, Maggie Oldham, at a meeting last night (Monday).

As previously reported, the trust was placed in special measures by NHS Improvement in April 2017 after a damning report from the CQC.

Members of the committee were told that a further 'unannounced' inspection was set to take place in February.

Ms Oldham told members that the aspiration was for the trust to be rated as 'good' by 2020.

However, she told members that the 'biggest challenge' for senior managers was to improve the culture at the trust.
