COMIC Con is coming to the Isle of Wight for the first time.
With help from Island volunteers, the first Isle of Wight Comic Con will be at Northwood House, Cowes, on November 4 and 5 - with exclusive visits from Steve Byers (Smallville and Far Cry 5) and cult Hollywood actor James Duval (Donnie Darko, Independence Day and Doom Generation).
When the convention - which will have special guests and attractions from the world of comic books, film, TV and gaming - was announced, the Facebook page received more than 1,000 likes in under 24 hours.
While the inaugural event is being organised by a team from around the world, one of the event's directors is comic fanatic Ben Belton, 37.
"The Isle of Wight is a creative hub for all types of art, music, production and more," he said.
"There have been attempts to run comic conventions on the Island before, but for whatever reason they never got off the ground. Once we committed to the IW Comic Con there was no turning back," said Ben, of Shide Road, Newport.
With more acts yet to be announced, Power Rangers' Steve Cardenas (original Mighty Morphin), Jeff Parazzo and Kevin Duhaney (DinoThunder Rangers) will also be at the event.
"We've sold hundreds of tickets for the first two days, so the pressure's on to really deliver this event to the best of our abilities.
"We have some amazing comic book names to announce," added Ben.
