Television's Shed of the Year competition has given designers across the country the chance to show off their skills at making the most of some unusual locations.

Now, thanks to the IW branch of the Royal Institute of British Architects and the County Press, the Island is looking for it's own amazing space.

The first Wight Space Award is launched today to find the best use of design on the IW.

This will recognise and reward some of the Island’s lesser-known unique spaces dotted around in gardens, harbours, fields and forests.

Whether your space is used for work, rest or play, or if it's simply a place to escape the daily grind, we are calling on Islanders to submit their entries for this new and unique event.

Wight Space entries can include quirky sheds, landscapes, beach huts, converted vehicles, structures, containers used for studios, workshops, entertainment, work, hobbies, collections, tree houses, gyms etc, often using re-claimed and re-purposed materials.

From the small to large, traditional to contemporary, quirky to crazy and everything in between, we are searching for the ultimate Wight Space.

A panel of judges will decide the winner, who will receive a cash prize and a trophy.

All shortlisted entries will receive a free ticket to the award night at the Royal Yacht Squadron on Friday, May 18, 2018.

To enter, simply fill in the entry form printed here and send it to Wight Space Competition, IW County Press, Brannon House, 123 Pyle Street, Newport., Isle of Wight. PO30 1ST. Closing date for entries is February 14, 2018. Usual County Press terms and conditions apply.
