The Big Lunch Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebration at Appley Park.Picture by Robin Crossley.
A THOUSAND youngsters from across the Island tucked into a Queen's Diamond Jubilee lunch at Appley Park, Ryde today as the Isle of Wight continued to bask in beautiful holiday sunshine.
Children donned special Diamond Jubilee hats and ate cakes, sandwiches and crisps at the 'Big Lunch' street party hosted by 1950s 'Trolley Dollys.'
Adults also got into the Jubilee spirit as a parade of 1950s and 1960s Lambretta scooters arrived at the park from Newport.
A big screen was also in place at the park so people could watch the Jubilee celebrations on the River Thames in London.
One of the event organisers, Helen Davenport said the celebrations had been going much better than they had thought possible.
She joked: "We have been doing sun dances and the rain has held off."
