A TEAM of walkers from Currys and PC World on an epic trek around the Isle of Wight, carrying a washing machine, will complete their walk today (Friday).

Staff from the two Isle of Wight stores are hoping to finish at the Bargeman's Rest, Newport, by 6pm, having spent the week walking the 75 mile route around the Island.

The challenge is in aid of the Island's independent lifeboats — Freshwater Lifeboat, Ryde Inshore Rescue and Sandown and Shanklin Inshore Lifeboat.

Aaron Elliott said the challenge had been made even more difficult by the hot weather this week.

"We have been walking for 12 or 13 hours some days," said Aaron.

He said they had been made welcome at each of the independent lifeboat stations, as well as businesses including the Priory Bay Hotel and the Wight Mouse in Chale, which had provided them with refreshments.

There is still time to support the group online and by taking part in a raffle in store, which is due to end on Sunday.

Aaron said they had raised over £2,000 so far.
