Conrad Leonard: Worked with Gracie Fields earlier this century.
Organist Conrad Leonard celebrated his 100th birthday on Saturday -and he has no intention of giving up his weekly recital in Twickenhamdespite notching up his century.
He entertains customers in the 100-seater café at Squires GardenCentre with a 90-minute organ recital every Thursday lunchtime.
The veteran musician said: "I am determined to continue working intothe next millennium, when I will have lived in three centuries. It will bea good excuse for another party."
Conrad still performs as a pianist and organist an average three timesevery week.
During his long career, he has composed orchestral pieces used in filmsand accompanied famous names including Gracie Fields. Before his musicallife started, Conrad served in the trenches with the Middlesex Regimentduring the First World War and left with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant.
