THE Island’s legendary bass player, Mark King from Level 42, has made an American fan’s Christmas dreams come true — by recording a special Yuletide song for her.

Mark, 51, one of the world’s leading bass guitarists found out about Heather Bloomgren’s campaign to get Level 42 to play in the United States for the first time in 22 years.

Heather, 39, from Wichita in Kansas, had posted a series of humorous videos, some with a holiday theme, on YouTube that show the world how rabid her devotion was to the band.

And when Mark saw them, he recorded his own version of Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas is You for Heather — in front of the Christmas tree at his home on the IW.

Now, the song has become a hit among avid YouTube and Level 42 fans.

Mark said Heather’s tributes had really made him smile.

He said: "I looked at what she had done and it is hysterical. If you see it, you will realise why I felt I had to put in a bit of effort on her behalf.

"It just so happened I had done a cover of Mariah Carey’s song and I noodled around with the song and just stuck a camera on a tripod near my Christmas tree. YouTube is fantastic. It is a very liberating thing for people."

He added: "We’d all go back to the States in a heartbeat but we need a promoter to take us over again and I haven’t had an offer in years."

Meanwhile, Heather said she was still working on trying to get the band to play in the States and has put together a Facebook group page to rally further support for her cause.
