Airlift after ladder fall

A WOMAN was airlifted to St Mary's Hospital this morning (Tuesday) after falling from a ladder.

The woman, an activity instuctor, fell at the Kingswood Activity Centre in Hillway Road, Bembridge, shortly after 10am.

Ambulance and fire crews stretchered the woman into the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

She had complained of back pain, according to a spokesman for the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.

* A spokesman for Kingswood said: "I can confirm an activity instructor sustained bruising to her ankle during a fall from a platform. The instructor had been setting up the climbing tower for the morning session when the incident occurred.

"Paramedics attended and she was airlifted to hospital as a precaution. After undergoing x-rays it was confirmed her ankle was bruised and she has since been released."
