Dartfordians saved their worst display of the season for the visit of lowly Lewes and were deservedly beaten at Bourne Road on Saturdayby five tries.
But the match had began well for the Darts who took a 10-point lead from a penalty by fly-half Bradley Jones, and a well-worked try from a quickly-taken penalty by scrum-half Howatd Evans, which Jones converted.
However, the joy was short-lived and Lewes hit back immediately to score in the corner just before the break with the first of five tries, and then equalised with a well run try at the start of the second period.
The turning point came when the referee allowed the visitor's fly-half to take a quick penalty and cross the line, even though the scrum was still formed and should have been deemed as illegal move.
Darts' heads went down and Lewes scored two more uncoverted tries to win 25-10.
