LONDON FIRE BRIGADE 0 BATTERSEA IRONSIDES 17

Battersea Ironsides travelled to Ewell to play the London Fire Brigade - their first league match since the Christmas break and it saw them hungry for action.

From the first whistle the Ironsides dominated through their forwards. Unfortunately they were unable to convert this pressure into points due to resolute defence from the Brigade.

Eventually the Ironsides scored after their right winger, Andy Crowther made a superb break down his touchline. After he was stopped in the 22 the Ironsides loose forwards arrived quickly to clear the ball and pass it through the rest of the back line to eventually send their other winger, Nick Madson, under the posts.

The Ironsides fly half and skipper Julian Jordan executed the best move of the game. He made a clean break past his opposite number and then chipped the ball over the full back who brought him down illegally. The referee had no other decision to make by award a penalty try.

The Ironsides were pleased with this result and it puts them in a positive state of mind when they meet Chobham in the Surrey Cup this Sunday.
