A TEENAGER has gone the extra mile - or 22 miles, to be exact - in the swimming pool, in aid of Diabetes UK.
Aniela Niemiec, 15, who has a school friend, Charlotte Von-Mehren, and cousin, Hannah Stamp, with Type 1 diabetes, showed her support by swimming 1,416 lengths of a swimming pool.
The Ryde Academy student spent three months whittling away at her target at the Waterside Pool, Ryde.
Aniela, of Monkton Street, Ryde, will have friends and family there to support her as she completed the final 50 laps yesterday (Friday), to hit the 22-mile target.
Aniela, who has been fitting her challenge around competitive netball and swimming, as well as dancing and badminton, said: "I did this to raise as much as I possibly could, so I'm pleased with £200 so far.
"The challenge has been motivational for me. It will be nice to have support when I finish."
Earlier this month Aniela completed her third consecutive Walk the Wight last Sunday, raising more than £50 for Earl Mountbatten Hospice.
