SUPER-SWIMMER Anna Wardley has set a provisional date for her attempt to become the first woman to swim around the Isle of Wight.
Having fully recovered from illness, which followed the latest part of the challenge, she plans to start her swim from Ryde next Friday, September 20, at 11am — weather permitting.
It could take her up to 30 hours.
Anna, 37, from Gosport, had completed three of her Five Islands Swim Challenge when she was forced by cold conditions to retire just eight miles from finishing the 30-mile Scottish swim, round Tiree.
The Five Island Swim Challenge has seen her successfully circumnavigate Dragonera, off the coast of Mallorca (6.2 miles), Portsea Island (13 miles) and Jersey (41 miles).
Anna said: "I have completed a 13-hour training swim from Ryde, past The Needles and round to St Catherine’s in rougher than expected conditions.
"I’m keeping my fingers crossed for good weather next week."
She is hoping to raise £50,000, and awareness, for three charities close to her heart — The Samaritans, the Cowes-based Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust and Sail Africa.
