ANGEL Radio has celebrated its tenth anniversary of full-time broadcasting.
The Isle of Wight radio station, which specialises in playing music from the 1960s and earlier, started broadcasting in 1999 from rooms above Age Concern’s offices in Pyle Street, but that was for only 28 days a year.
The station, now based at the WightFibre’s offices in Love Lane, Cowes, went full time on March 24, 2007 and has since grown its licensed record collection to over 125,000.
After many years, Angel Radio has now been granted permission to take on advertising and sponsorship which will help towards keeping it on the airwaves for years to come.
Until this was granted the station relied almost entirely on the kindness of Isle of Wight listeners.
The Angel Radio crew have extended thanks to the years of support from their listeners which helped keep them broadcasting into their next decade.
