Appeal after pub brawl

A FIGHT near a Cowes pub on Saturday night left a 37-year-old man needing hospital treatment for head injuries.

Detectives are appealing for more witnesses after the fight outside the Painter's Arms between midnight and 1am.

Police were called at 1.21am.

A 37-year-old man from East Cowes, Isle of Wight suffered head injuries and went to hospital for treatment. He is now recovering at home, according to police.

A 40-year-old man from Cowes, Isle of Wight was arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm, questioned and bailed until January 21, 2012 pending further enquiries.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the assault and anyone with information is asked to contact CID at Newport Police Station by phoning 101. Mini-com users can phone 18001 101. Information can be given anonymously by phoning the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
