Tutton nabbed a goal in Tonbridge Angels 2-0 win at Park View Road to send their noisy band of travelling supporters home happy.

But despite the disappointing end to the season, the Deres can look back on the season with pride after securing their first top half finish in seven years.

Erith and Belvedere made a bright start to Saturday's game when a fine ball from Kevin Spriggs released top-scorer Steve White after eight minutes. White was brought down by Nick Humphrey, only for referee Stephen Peeke to turn down what looked an obvious penalty.

And Mr Peeke was again in the Deres' bad books soon after when he baulked John Farley just outside the Tonbridge box to inadvertently set up a move which led to the opening goal.

But defender Danny Francis was also to blame, appealing for offside as Tutton swept the ball into the Erith net.

The referee did partially redeem himself by disallowing a second Tonbridge goal on 25 minutes.

Meanwhile, Deres' were limited to a speculative 35-yard effort by Chris Whitehouse and a hopeful shot by Stuart Abbott, who was making his 50th appearance for the club.

Erith had their chances after the interval when John Embery shot wide on 54 minutes and the same player hit the side netting only five minutes later.

But four minutes from time Mark Rust found Simon Elliot, whose graceful left-foot shot nestled in the corner of the Erith net to seal the points for the away team.
