Missing cat, Eek.
THE Slade family are desperately hoping to hear news of their family pet which has gone missing.
They are particularly worried because of the current cold weather and are desperate to hear from anyone in the Collingwood Road area of Newport who may have seen the little black cat, called Eek, after the noise she makes.
Her distinguishing feature is a nick missing from one of her ears. Eek is about two and a half years old and went missing on Tuesday night. Anyone who can help, can ring the family on 01983 533224.

That's good news, great to hear the moggy made it home in one piece. if people are annoyed about it not being news, they can go and find something else to do!

I have a Facebook group/page entitled Missing Pets UK - (Isle of Wight). This article was placed there by a member. Please let us know when Eek is found. My email address is alwidav@sky.com

That's fair enough I suppose Julian, however I was unaware this would actually be published on their website, I thought when I sent the message it would just be put on their facebook/twitter as that's all I asked for but their help and kindness in putting this story on the site was very kind and I am very very grateful to them for it, regardless of whether people are annoyed by the fact it isn't 'news'.Thankyou to everyone who read this, about 3 minutes ago the silly little monster strolled in through our back door like nothing had happened! She's home safe and sound and as I said, we are very grateful for everybody's help.

My comment was because, I used to live on The Island. In fact I was born in Newport and love reading news about the Island. I visited in July--and saw old friends. I have two dogs here in Queensland--so I am "pet friendly". However 'lost cats' is not news; so I was expressing my desire to see more about the Island. And let's face it there is not enough news-on-line, in The IWCP. Although it has improved. We get news about cats here! But it is not usually reported in the newspapers!

You're entitled to that view, Julian, but as Clare has very kindly pointed out below, there is such a thing as community spirit. If you're the kind of person that doesn't care if a much loved family pet is possibly shut in somewhere in temperatures of minus 4 at night then kindly don't say anything rather than cruelly belittling somebody else's upset. The county press putting something up in order to help my family and I was a very kind thing to do and perhaps you should consider it from that point of view rather than mocking. As the saying goes, if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all.Thank you Sophie but she doesn't wear a collar so its unlikely.

I'm sure, Julian Fry, that it's quite important for the family whose cat it is, I believe its called community spirit!

Surely The IWCP, can put better quality news stories than this on the web.? I live in Australia and would welcome something more notable than a lost cat!
