Appeal to help Isle of Wight Foodbank

The Isle of Wight Foodbank team at Tesco in Ryde.

THE Isle of Wight Foodbank has appealed for support for a collection at Tesco.

Nationally the supermarket is working with foodbanks to collect five million meals worth of food in one weekend to help families in need.

People will be able to support the the Isle of Wight Foodbank effort, which started today (Thursday) and finishes on Saturday, at the Tesco Extra store, on the outskirts of Ryde.

"The Neighbourhood Food Collection will be hosted in all Tesco stores across the UK, collecting food that will then be given to people in need through Trussell Trust foodbanks or redistributed to community groups and other frontline charities that deal with food poverty by FareShare," said a spokesman.

Volunteers are also needed to help with the collection tomorrow afternoon.
