CONCERNS too many houses are built have prompted a review of the Isle of Wight's planning strategy.
A motion calling for the Island Plan Core Strategy to be reviewed, put forward by Cllr Roger Whitby-Smith at the March full council meeting, was unanimously supported.
Pointing out recent assessments had been carried out since the strategy was adopted five years ago, Cllr Whitby-Smith said the review should be undertaken 'to protect the Island from overdevelopment and ensure the right development takes place in the right places’.
Cllr Bob Seely said: "Current targets only benefit the government and developers, no one else — including residents who see green fields swallowed up by expensive houses that are unaffordable for most Islanders."
