Armed police in Brading

ARMED police officers on the Isle of Wight were called to Brading High Street yesterday (Monday) afternoon, after reports of a man with a firearm.

The police were called to the scene at around 4.30pm.

A police spokeswoman said: "A 49-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of possessing an imitation firearm in a public place."

The man was arrested at an address on Lower Furrlongs, Brading, and bailed until Thursday.
