TEARFUL mourners followed the horse and carriage that took teenager Vicky through her village for the last time as they filed into church for her funeral.

Hundreds turned up to St Margaret's Church, in Tylers Green, last Friday to say their final goodbyes to the 16-year-old as the LeAnn Rimes song How Can I live Without You? played in the background.

Vicky died two weeks ago when the car in which she was a passenger crashed on the A404 Amersham Road near Penn Street.

The Rev Bill Mason, who conducted the service, described Vicky's death as tragic and a waste.

He said: "We will never understand in this life why things like this happen. We can only stand alongside Doug, Sue [Vicky's parents], James, William [her brothers] and Dan [her boyfriend] and offer our love and support.

"Talking to Doug and Sue about Vicky, it soon became apparent she was a larger than life person, someone who lived life to the full. The life and soul of the party, she loved socialising. She could disarm you with just a look."

Vicky's favourite poem I've Never Been So Happy, which was due to be read out by her younger brother William, was read by her father Doug after William was overcome with emotion.

The congregation sang the hymns Morning Has Broken and All Things Bright and Beautiful and listened to Sam Philpot say a few words about her best friend.

She said: "I met Vicky on the first day of Holmer Green Upper School and from that day she's been my best friend. She would have done anything for Dan and her family. I have many happy memories with her."

The mourners left the church to Elvis Costello's version of She. Vicky was laid to rest in Cock Lane Cemetery.
