A CHARITY fundraising event has been propelled into the Premier League.
A host of top football clubs are supporting a charity fun night to raise funds for an Isle of Wight charity.
Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea, Southampton and Aston Villa are among the clubs who have donated authenticated items to be auctioned in aid of the Breast Care Nurses’ Trust Fund at St Mary’s Hospital.
The auction will take place during a fancy dress charity fun night at King Harry’s Bar in Shanklin Old Village next Saturday, October 12.
Items going under the hammer include signed footballs from United and Arsenal; signed shirts from Aston Villa and Sunderland — including a rare signature of sacked manager Paolo Di Canio — and pennants, one signed by the high-flying Tottenham and Southampton squads.
An unsigned shirt and souvenirs from Chelsea, a West Brom signed pennant and three match-day programmes signed by Newcastle players, have also been donated by the clubs.
Event organiser Jamie White said: "Villa have also offered a match-day visit to Villa Park, with two match tickets.
"We have been overwhelmed by the support of so many top football clubs, as well as local businesses and individuals, for such a worthy cause. Every penny raised will go to the charity."
l Anyone unable to attend the fun night but who would like to make a sealed bid for an auction item should make sure it reaches King Harry’s Bar, 6 Church Road, Shanklin Old Village, PO37 6NU by next Friday, October 11, with full contact details, including name and mobile number.
