Author Philip Bell.
AN AUTHOR has been awarded a grant by the Isle of Wight Council’s adult and community learning to help boost his work with Isle of Wight groups.
The grant means established author Philip Bell will be able to help community groups and organisations create and publish books for projects.
Mr Bell said: "I have funding for three books to be completed over three terms. The books can help celebrate the work of a particular group or promote an organisation or the people they help."
The Beachy Book community publishing projects are open to all adults on the Island aged 19 and over.
"I want to work with a diverse range of people and I can work with people at their setting or it can be a central venue.
"There is so much involved in making a book and my hope is people involved in the projects will learn new skills that could lead to vocational training, further adult learning or increase their chances of future employment."
Previously, Mr Bell has worked with youngsters in Year 5 at Newchurch Primary School to produce a book, which will be given to new reception class arrivals joining the school.
Any groups wanting to know more about the project can e-mail Philip at philipbell@beachybooks.com
