ECO-Island supporters were blown away by the success of their wind awareness campaign.
They say the team attending more than ten events was positively received everywhere, collecting more than 1,000 letters and signatures in support of the Cheverton Down wind farm application.
A spokesperson said: "We only encountered six members of the public who voiced opposition to wind energy.
"Greatest concerns included terrible weather change; storm damage to buildings and loss of trees and habitat; erosion of the Island’s coastline on the Island and how much quicker that might get.
"They want electricity supplies to be safeguarded.
"Nearly everyone we encountered was very pragmatic about wind turbines and felt the Island should play its part in producing cleaner energy and the long-term protection of the heritage coastline was more important than maintaining a temporary view today."
