Bad language good news for RNLI

THE RNLI was bowled over when fundraisers rolled up with a charity cheque.

A total of £782.05 was raised during the Ventnor Bowls Club presidential year of Auriol Ash.

Miss Ash, who has always lived near Bembridge Lifeboat Station, nominated the £1 million appeal for a new station and lifeboat as her chosen charity.

She went to the under-construction station to present the cheque.

Miss Ash said: "All sorts of events raised the money, including fines for misdemeanours on tour — including the odd bit of bad language."
