THE Present of Life, a track released by Isle of Wight company Rapanui with wildlife charity the Badger Trust, has broken into a major online chart.

The Christmas track, which has had backing from the likes of Sir David Attenborough, Chris Packham and Michael Fish, made it into the top 20 of the Amazon rock music best sellers list this afternoon (Tuesday).

Rapanui co-founder Mart Drake-Knight said: "Everyone at Rapanui is stoked to be in the top 20 rock chart on Amazon downloads.

"We woke up this morning to a load of tweets and couldn’t believe it. The response from the community on the Isle of Wight has been amazing, particularly on Facebook and Twitter.

"As a result we’re now seeing Rapanui up there with the likes of Robbie Williams.

"There’s still 10 days to go so you never know, it might climb further, but even if it doesn’t beat X Factor to the top spot we’re pleased to announce we’ve leapfrogged last year's X Factor winner Matt Cardle already, so we’ve got a real milestone to celebrate."

The song was written by Isle of Wight musicians Jason Paine, of Agile Studios, and Andy Booth, of Shadows of the City.
