Band tipped for big things

Birdeatsbaby.

WITH a hotly-tipped album out and a US tour in the works, life is good for band Birdeatsbaby.

Featuring former Cowes High School turned Brighton University student Charlie Reith-Pert on drums, the alt-classical punks' second album, Feast of Hammers — recorded in the US with top producer Jason Rubal — was last week tipped by TheIndependent music critic Simon Price.

Praising the album's operatic quality and nightmarish atmosphere, Price compares the band to the Dresden Dolls and Brothers Grimm.

"It's really exciting because The Independent carries quite a lot of weight and hopefully this will inspire people to check us out. It would be great if we could get signed from this," said Charlie, 21.

"We've launched the album in Brighton and London and it has been really well received."

Birdeatsbaby are currently playing venues across the UK and will tour the US in June.

The album is available from iTunes and Spotify.
