FIREFIGHTERS were called to tackle a bathroom fire at a property in Newport this afternoon (Monday).
Two fire engines went to the scene at Carisbrooke Road, near the junction with Trafalgar Road, shortly before 5pm.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel and powder extinguisher to tackle the blaze, which took hold in a bathroom on the first floor of the property.
Everyone inside the building was safely evacuated before the firefighters arrived and no-one was injured, according to a spokesman for the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.
