Bill Everett Centre, February 3.
In what could be described in footbal cliche terms as a 'game of two halves', Evergreen Youth performed superbly in the first half building a four-goal lead only for Rovers to fight back in the second half producing a final result of 5-1 to Evegreen.
Evegreen's Tommy Twelves opened the scoring with a typical opportunist goal and he doubled the lead when he tapped in his second following a thunderbolt from Ashley Talbot whose shot rebounded off the underside of the bar enabling a simple tap in finish for Evergreen's leading scorer.
Ashley Talbot scored the third goal for Evergreen following a dazzling run down the right wing, cutting inside and crashing a shot past the Rovers keeper. Jamie Denyer added a fourth, volleying home from the edge of the area from a corner.
In the second half Evergreen made it five after Sean Murray produced another 'net buster special'. This spurred Rovers into action and they scored following a defensive mix up from Evergreen.
After dominating the first half Evegreen had to settle for a second half "draw" from a Rovers side that never gave up. A really entertaining game of football from two very committed teams.
