Bestival: Beck and Foals join the Bestival bill

US alt-rock star Beck is to headline Thursday night at Bestival.

BECK and Foals will join OutKast as castaways at Bestival's Isle of Wight Desert Island Disco this year, organisers revealed today (Monday).

A host of other acts have also been added to the bill, including Disclosure, Diplo/Major Lazer, London Grammar and Clean Bandit.

Saturday night headliners Foals, who scooped last year's Q Award for best live act and an NME award for best album, said: "We couldn't be more excited and honoured to be part of Bestival this year; it's the perfect end to our touring for Holy Fire. We promise a night of madness, mayhem and good times!"

US alt-rocker Beck, the man behind tracks such as Loser, Devil's Haircut and Sexx Laws, will top the bill on Thursday night.

Bestival curator Rob da Bank said: "Ahoy there shipmates and welcome to my desert island! Yes folks, HMS Bestival has set sail once more and we have finally landed back on the Isle of Wight for our 11th instalment — a Desert Island Disco. Foals were voted Best Live Act of last year and I'm delighted they'll be headlining the Saturday night – there’s no better indie guitar band in the UK right now.

"Also donning a grass skirt and mirrorball is a total icon of popular music and one of my favourite songwriters, Beck, plus disco darlings Disclosure, Diplo and his Major Lazer crew and all the hottest new bands from London Grammar to Clean Bandit. So get out of your deckchair and get ready to disco, my friends!"

Disclosure will perform ahead of Friday night's main stage headline show from OutKast, having blown away the crowd with their Big Top set in 2013

Laura Mvula, Chvrches and Wild Beasts also join the bill.

Organisers have yet to reveal this year's Sunday night headliner.

I must admit I’m also little underwhelmed with the acts so far, A lot of the emphasis last year was on the main acts and stages, maybe this year is the return of the Djs?

I will happily eat my words when Daft Punk are announced!

Lisa, I think you are actually a tad too young to remember Beck.
