Residents across the borough could be having a hard time with their water over the next few weeks.
Because of maintenance work, Sutton and East Surrey Water will not be softening its water supplies from February 2 for three weeks.
Although the water will still be safe to drink and will taste no different, people will need to use more soap than usual and may notice a slight cloudiness on top of boiled water caused by natural calcium.
Water supplied to residents in and around South Croydon from the Cheam treatment works comes from boreholes in the chalk, which makes it very pure, but naturally hard.
