Recently I was waiting for a bus in Park Street, Croydon and happened to see a young bird in a brick surrounding in front of some property there.

I noticed that it did not fly out, but only sprang up and down and walked round in the enclosure.

I went over to the restaurant the Rat and Parrot and asked them what could be done. They were so kind and one of the assistants came over to where the bird was and very shortly was able to lift it out and carefully wrap it in his cotton jacket and also found a box. We then went back to the restaurant and he telephoned the RSPCA. They soon came and took the bird.

Later they said that they hoped to be able to return the bird in a day or two to its environment in Park Street. The bird was not hurt and they were able to feed it.
