Enfield Rangers U9 3 Edson Vasco de Gama 1

Enfield.

A slow start from Edson cost them dear here as they lost 2 early goals to a slick Enfield team who were faster out of the blocks in the opening five minutes with some smart passing exchanges opening up the play and scoring twice before Edson realised they were in a game.

Like a boxer gradually clearing his head after a count of 8, Edson clung on and as the half closed, had established a foothold in the game and were beginning to compete on something like equal terms.

Some changes at half time in personnel, and Edson continued to improve after the break, gradually ramping up the pressure on Enfield who defended well, particularly the 2 full backs, whilst continuing to pose a threat on the break.

The defining moment in the game arrived when the Enfield number three rifled in an excellent left footer from outside the box, at a time when Edson were pressing very hard for a breakthrough of their own.

Edson continued to play their part in what was becoming a hugely entertaining spectacle from both parties.

An open goal was missed, a penalty appeal turned down, before Michael Harriman capped a fine individual performance with a late consolation for an Edson team who continued to compete to the final whistle.

Defeat then for Edson on their travels to a good Enfield side, well coached, but they'll need to get their wake up call a bit earlier to avoid a repeat in games to come.

Nascot Wood Rangers 0 Herons 3

League - Blue Division.

Alexander Johnson won the Man of the Match award for his effort in chasing and closing down. He was unlucky not to get on the score sheet when he beat the keeper only for the effort to be cleared off the line.

Josh Armstrong hit the bar in the first half, which saw Nascot concede three in quick succession. The Herons keeper also managed two brilliant saves to keep a clean sheet and keep Nascot at bay.

Fine saves from Daniel Youngs kept Nascot in the game and Mathew Morgan1s first half performance set the example to the team.

He saved a shot off the line in the second half and provided a useful set of passes on the right side for Alex J to chase.

Harry Rutledge again worked the midfield tirelessly and, supported by Phillip Thomas, in the second half we saw a much tighter game.

Tony Delaney added some strength at the back in the second half and with Adnan Ahmed and Hussaan Ahmad they closed the door to any further goals.

Jamie Cooper and Alex Combridge played a key part in the game, but Craig Valentine provided the tackles and outlet on the left to ease the pressure.

Captain Robert West played in three different positions and provided the neat passes required to break Herons down and was unlucky for a loose ball not to break quicker for his first-time shot.

Harry Rutledge and Alexander Johnson matched up nicely on two occasions in the second half and Alex was unlucky to hit the side netting with his shot.

Harry Rutledge almost got a bravely fought consolation goal late on at the far post, but the Herons keeper was on form and not letting anything past him.

Going three down in the first half left too much to get back and when Nascot did start firing forward, the ball just wasn1t going to fall for them.

A battling final 10 minutes livened the game up and made it a better performance than the score shows.

London Colney 3 Harvesters 3

Cotlandswick.

London Colney controlled the game with Karl Ward playing magestically as always at the back. Colney took the lead three times with a Michael Cattermole hat-trick but luck was on Harvesters' side and they came back to draw. Junichi Jimatota was great in his first game for Colney
