Isle of Wight Fort Walk 2014. Picture Courtesy of Paul Field.
THERE was a big turnout for the annual Fort Walk last night (Tuesday), when Islanders made the most of low tides to head to St Helen's Fort.
Exceptionally low tides over recent days, caused by the supermoon phenomenon — when the moon is closer to the Earth — meant walkers have been heading to the fort over the last three evenings.
Last night, hundreds took part in the annual Isle of Wight tradition, converging at the fort from St Helens and Bembridge Point at around 7pm.
For more pictures please see the Isle of Wight County Press on Friday, August 15.
Thanks to Paul Field for sending us these pictures.
