Shaftesbury Barnet's hammer star Lyn Sprules will be seeking to achieve the qualifying distance of 65m for the world championships in Canada when she represents England in an international this weekend.

Club record holder with 63.96m, Lyn has a season's best of 62.99m. She outclassed her rivals with a winning throw of 60.92m in the Southern League (Division One) match at Copthall Stadium on Saturday.

Shaftesbury (157 points) were third behind Windsor, Slough and Eton (233.5) and Newham (160).

Simone Jacobs, who sustained a bad pelvic injury in a fall last year, returned. Jacobs, who represented Britain in the Olympic Games four times, was second in the 100m in 12.2sec.

Only 15, Emma Hunt was second in the senior 800m in a personal best of 2min 14.5sec. She was also runner-up in the senior 1500m in 4min 48.3sec.

In the U13 800m, Lara Clark won in a very fast time of 2min 26.4sec.

Stacy Savage became the 20th SBH athlete to be selected to compete in the English Schools' Championships at Exeter next month. She represents Bedfordshire in the U17 triple jump.
