THE Volunteer Bureau in Harlow would like to hear from people with a few hours to spare who are interested in the following opportunities:
*The Maybury Centre needs drivers to pick up and drop off members of a social group run by and for people with disabilities. Full training is provided;
*Local charity shops are looking for volunteers to work a half-day per month;
*Harlow Community Transport is looking for drivers. Full training will be provided;
*The Marie Curie Cancer charity needs volunteers particularly to help with its Daffodil Day fundraising;
*The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds needs volunteers to work for four weeks on a nature reserve in the UK. Other work placements can also be arranged;
*The Books on Wheels service wants volunteers with their own cars to deliver and collect books and other library items for housebound people;
*Shopmobility seeks volunteers to take people with mobility difficulties shopping in the town centre once a week;
*A club for retired people would like to hear from a volunteer DJ able to help out on Wednesday afternoons and another group is looking for an organist for weekly tea dances; and
*The Alzheimer's Society is looking for people to visit and support families with an Alzheimer's sufferer, and to help out with its Friday morning Rest a While project.
