I'VE read the recent letters regarding 'Independents' and regardless of their status in Wycombe I can tell you that they no longer exist in Beaconsfield.

Firstly, in Beaconsfield they are a registered political party masquerading as individuals. Second, they are led by a man who was not born in the parish, does not live in the parish and does not work in the parish (actually, he works in Chester 200 miles away!). Third, the so called Independents have forged a formal alliance with the Lib Dems and actively campaign together. So, a vote for an 'Independent' is a vote for the LibDems.

What do these quasi Lib Dems stand for? Well, recently they have been against CCTV, they have promoted the deeply unpopular and unnecessary traffic calming in Wattleton Road and they are happy to see the town council coffers expand with ever increasing amounts of cash with no clear idea of what to do with it all. That is why they cannot attract electable candidates nor win votes.

What are we Conservatives doing?

Well, we are working with community groups identifying and evaluating worthy projects and committing funds and resources. We are setting the agenda , reforming the way we work, revitalising the community and winning increasing support.

Why? Because we are becoming increasingly relevant to all sectors of the community young and old alike. We are gaining and increasing our broad support .
