THE PHLEBOTOMY clinic at St Mary's Hospital and Ryde Outpatients' Department will be closed on Wednesday as part of refurbishments to the Blood Sciences service.

The departments will be closed while analytical equipment is moved to allow the second stage of the works to begin.

A hospital spokesman said that all Island GPs have been made aware of the closure and have been advised to only take urgent blood tests on the day.

The service is set to resume on Thursday, March 6.
