A GREATLY improved Blackheath side made unbeaten Bedford work hard for victory on Saturday.
A confident display saw Club just 16-13 behind at the break, and early in the second half Simon Mason, who otherwise had an excellent game, missed a straightforward penalty which would have levelled it.
Blackheath assistant coach Phil Ubee thought his side had played well. "Obviously it's disappointing to lose but the performance showed a lot of promise and we played with heart and character," he said. Club will be looking for revenge at Rotherham on Saturday.
